The Columbia Mom in the Kitchen: Favorite Super Bowl Sunday Appetizers
Super Bowl Sunday is practically a holiday in my houseβwhether you're there for the game, the commercials, or just the snacks, one thing is certain: the food lineup has to be on point. We thought the Commanders wouldβve been there this year, but alas, we will have to wait for next season.
I love a mix of indulgent, cheesy goodness with a few healthier options to balance things out (kind of). Here are a few of my tried-and-true game day favorites!
The MVP: Buffalo Chicken Dip
This dip is a Super Bowl staple, and itβs ridiculously easy to make. Itβs creamy, spicy, and downright addictive.
What Youβll Need:
1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
1 block of cream cheese
1-2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Frankβs Red Hot Sauce (as much as your spice tolerance allows!)
Fritoβs Scoops for dipping
How to Make It:
Preheat your oven to 350Β°F.
Mix all ingredients together in a baking dish.
Bake for about 30 minutes, or until itβs bubbly and slightly golden on top.
Serve hot with Fritoβs Scoops for the ultimate crunchy, cheesy, spicy bite.
If you want to elevate this dip even more, add a drizzle of ranch or blue cheese on top before serving!
Lame but Quick & Easy Healthy Ranch Dip (for balance)
We all need something green on the table, right? This ranch dip is ridiculously simple and tastes just like the real thing!
What Youβll Need:
Plain Greek yogurt
Ranch seasoning mix
A colorful veggie platter (bonus points for arranging it in a football shape!)
How to Make It:
Mix Greek yogurt + ranch seasoning together. Yep, thatβs it.
Serve with sliced bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, celery, or whatever veggies you like!
Want to make it extra festive? Arrange your veggies in a football shape on a platter with the ranch as the βlacesβ in the center!
Cauliflower "Nachos" (aka a Slightly Healthier Take on the Classic)
If you want to lighten things up but still get all the nacho vibes, these cauliflower nachos hit the spot. Theyβre crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor!
What Youβll Need:
1 head of cauliflower, sliced into small florets
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Β½ cup diced red onion
Β½ cup chopped tomatoes or pico de gallo
ΒΌ cup chopped cilantro (or green onions)
Sour cream & guac for topping
Olive oil (or Pam spray), salt, and pepper
How to Make It:
Preheat oven to 375Β°F.
Lay the cauliflower florets flat on a baking sheet and toss with a little oil, salt, and pepper.
Bake for 20 minutes, until they start to crisp up.
Pull out, layer on cheese, onions, peppers, and tomatoes, and bake for another 5-10 minutes until melty.
Top with pico de gallo, sour cream, guac, and cilantro before serving.
Add shredded chicken or ground turkey if you want to make it more of a meal!
Game Day Ready!
These three recipes are easy, delicious, and guaranteed to be a hit no matter who you're rooting for on Super Bowl Sunday. Whether you're scooping up spicy buffalo chicken dip, crunching on veggie sticks, or diving into a plate of cauliflower nachos, your snack table is winningβno matter the score.
