Founder of The Columbia Mom! If you’re new here, welcome! I created this space to help families in Howard County (and beyond) connect with all the amazing local businesses, events, and activities our community has to offer.

What started as a passion project during a big life transition has grown into something so much bigger—a go-to resource for parents looking to save time, discover something new, or just feel connected. Whether it’s finding the perfect spot for a family day out, a fun date night idea, or even tips for navigating parent life, I’m here to make life easier (and more fun!).

From Instagram reels and stories to our website packed with blogs, events, and advertising opportunities, my goal is simple: to highlight local businesses and bring you the resources you need—all while keeping things upbeat, exciting, and totally relatable.

Hi, I’m Allie! My husband and I live in Howard County with our two boys, where we’re always on the lookout for new activities and great food spots to try as a family. I’m a part-time marketing professional and stay-at-home mom who runs on coffee, enjoys gardening, and thrives as an extroverted introvert. Whether it’s exploring local parks, finding hidden gem restaurants, or connecting with the community, I love sharing the best of HoCo life with other families.

Hi, I’m Jill! I’m originally from New York, but for the past eight years, I’ve been proud to call Howard County home.
I started out teaching social studies in New York, but life had other plans, and I’ve since built a fulfilling career as a social and digital media strategist and marketing consultant. When I’m not working or momming, you can find me diving into the latest pop culture trends, catching up on everything Bravo, exploring new places, or eagerly awaiting my next Amazon package.

Hi, I’m Mary: history buff, crocheter, and beach bum! I live in Catonsville with my husband and our three rowdy boys (ages 7, 4, and 2). I grew up outside of Philly, but have lived in Howard County and the surrounding area for 13 years now.
I’m a full-time social media and digital engagement professional with over 15 years experience. My favorite part of being on Team TCM is combining my professional experience with my personal interests: local good eats, fun family ideas, and just enjoying living in this gem of an area!

Hi, I'm Emma and I am Freshman in college at Salisbury University! I have lived in Howard County my whole life with my parents, brother and beagle! I love to play soccer, crochet and spend time with my friends and family!

Hi, I'm Alexis! I live in Cape Town, South Africa. When I’m not working, you’ll find me at home with my own personal zoo - with all the furry chaos at home, let’s just say there’s never a dull (or quiet) moment. I enjoy bringing creativity, structure, and a touch of humour to everything I do. I’m passionate about learning new things, staying organized, and finding joy in the little details.

Zachary Lederer was diagnosed with brain cancer at 18 years old, for the second time in his life. He was a UMD freshman, and basketball manager. After one of his brain surgeries, his dad snapped of photo of him “ZACHING” - to show the world he was strong, courageous, and to give HOPE.
Born and raised in Howard County, the Lederer family started the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation is a local nonprofit that raises money to go towardThe Little Things Program, scholarships, internships, donations to cancer research, and outreach organizations.

Blossoms for Hope is a local nonprofit that serves to enhance our quality of life through beautification projects and support for our community; cancer-related, mental health and other causes can be seen in many ways throughout Howard County.

Cupid's Undie Run is an annual event held in various cities around the world, around Valentine's Day weekend. It's a charity fun run where participants strip down to their underwear and run a short distance, usually about one mile, to raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation, which supports research into neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body.
The event is known for its festive atmosphere, with participants often wearing themed underwear, costumes, or accessories. It's a lighthearted way to support a good cause while having fun with friends!
