Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly festival, a reason to get outside, or just an excuse to treat yourself, I’ve got you covered.

I cannot tell you how EXCITED I am to explore the art, flowers, food, and outdoors of Howard County after the longest winter ever. That’s why I’ve put together a list of spring events in Howard County you and your favorite people won’t want to miss—so go ahead and mark your calendar now!

March Spring Preview Farmers Market

  • Date: March 1, 2025 – 9 AM to 1 PM

  • Location: Clarksville Commons – 12250 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029-1495

  • Details: The Commons will host an early spring preview of the upcoming farmers market season on the plaza. Attendees can explore a variety of locally grown, raised, and handmade goods from the Chesapeake region, including fresh produce, meats, eggs, baked treats, beverages, flowers, and artisanal crafts. The market will once again partner with Maryland Money Market this year. More details here.

Out of this World – Women in Space (6 Years+)

  • Date: March 8, 2025 – 6:30 PM to 8 PM

  • Location: Robinson Nature Center – 6692 Cedar Ln, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Details: Everyone is invited to celebrate International Women’s Day with a hands-on astronomy experience. The event features a night sky planetarium show, astronomy activities, and space-themed crafts. Attendees can meet women in space and science careers, hear their stories, and learn about the upcoming Artemis mission, which will send the first woman to the moon. Blossoms of Hope 20th Anniversary Art Show

  • Date: March 13, 2025 – 6 PM to 9 PM

  • Location: Horowitz Center Smith Theatre – 5020 Campus Dr, Columbia, MD 21044

Sensory-Friendly Sunday (All Ages)

  • Date: March 23, 2025 – 10:30 AM to 12 PM

  • Location: Robinson Nature Center – 6692 Cedar Ln, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Details: Attendees can enjoy self-paced activities such as sensory bins, scavenger hunts, crafts, and games. The planetarium will be open from 11 a.m. to noon. Preregistration is recommended. More details here.

Spring Egg Hunt at GJACC (2-10 Years)

  • Date: April 5, 2025 – 10 AM to 11:30 AM

  • Location: Gary J. Arthur Community Center – 2400 Route 97, Cooksville, MD 21723

  • Details: Families are invited to celebrate spring with an outdoor egg hunt, prizes, refreshments, games, and crafts. Guests should bring a basket for collecting eggs and a camera for a visit with the bunny. The hunt begins promptly at 10:15 a.m. and will be moved indoors to the gymnasium in case of inclement weather. Registration is required and now open. The event is for children ages 2-10, with a fee of $10 for center members and $15 for nonmembers. More details here.

2025 Children's Discovery Fair: Wiggle, Learn & Grow

  • Date: April 5, 2025 – 10 AM to 1 PM

  • Location: East Columbia 50+ Center – 6610 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD 21045

  • Details: The 2025 Children's Discovery Fair, held in April as part of Howard County’s Month of the Young Child, invites children ages 3 to 5 to engage in hands-on, educational activities. Families can enjoy interactive games, crafts, stories, and movement exercises designed to inspire learning. Admission and parking are free. Registration is recommended for attendance planning and event updates. The event is part of the Launch into Learning initiative, sponsored by the Howard County Early Childhood Advisory Council. Spring Eggstravaganza for Tots (1 Year+)

  • Date: April 12 & 13, 2025 – 9 AM to 2 PM

  • Location: Robinson Nature Center – 6692 Cedar Ln, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Details: Families can enjoy toddler-friendly activities throughout the indoor exhibits and outdoor paved trail, weather permitting. The event features crafts, games, and spring-themed sensory activities, along with separate egg hunts for toddlers and children ages 4 and older. Guests can also meet bunnies available for adoption through Friends of Rabbits, a rescue organization. All adults and children ages 1 and older must register in person to participate. Spring Egg Hunt at Rockburn (2-10 Years)

  • Date: April 12, 2025 – 10 AM to 11 AM

  • Location: Rockburn Elementary School – 6145 Montgomery Rd, Elkridge, MD 21075

  • Details: Families are invited to bring their baskets and join a fun-filled egg hunt inspired by Alice in Wonderland’s famous rabbit. The event features egg collecting, prizes, games, and entertainment for children ages 2-10. Preregistration is required, as no cash payments will be accepted. Co-sponsored by the Elkridge Adult Athletic Association, the event will be held at Rockburn Elementary School. In case of inclement weather, updates will be available at 410-313-4451. Autism in the Park (All Ages)

  • Date: April 12, 2025 – 10 AM to 2 PM

  • Location: Blandair Regional Park North Area – 5685 Oakland Mills Rd, Columbia , MD 21045

  • Details: In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, families are invited to join the Autism Society of Maryland for a community celebration. The event offers a playful and inclusive environment featuring interactive activities, entertainers, face painting, and demonstrations. GreenFest 2025

  • Date: April 12, 2025 – 10 AM to 3 PM

  • Location: Howard Community College – 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Details: GreenFest is Howard County’s largest Earth Day celebration, designed to connect residents with local businesses, nonprofits, and government resources that promote environmental stewardship. The event features interactive green vendors, native plants, workshops, demonstrations, and more. More details here.

Archaeology Fest! (All Ages)

  • Date: April 19, 2025 – 10 AM to 2 PM

  • Location: West Friendship Park – 12985 Frederick Rd, West Friendship, MD

  • Details: Celebrate Maryland Archaeology Month by joining an archaeological dig in Howard County to search for artifacts and learn about the history of West Friendship's families. The event includes hands-on activities, and children under 16 must be with a registered adult. The cost is $15 per person, and children under 5 attend for free. Kid's Fest (2-12 Years)

  • Date: April 19, 2025 – 11 AM to 2 PM

  • Details: Enjoy family fun at the annual Kid’s Fest with sports, games, arts, crafts, food, and more. Pre-register online for $8 per child (ages 2-12) or pay $10 on-site (cashless only). Eggstreme Flashlight Egg Hunt (11-15 Years)

  • Date: April 26, 2025 – 7:45 PM to 9 PM

  • Location: Robinson Nature Center – 6692 Cedar Ln, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Details: Join the night egg hunt for ages 11-15! Search for hidden eggs in the forest for prizes and candy. Bring a flashlight and friends. Registration is required by calling 410-313-0400. Parents or guardians must stay on-site. The cost is $10 per person. More details here.

Belmont's Spring Open House & Venue Showcase (All Ages)

  • Date: April 27, 2025 – 11 AM to 3 PM

  • Location: Belmont Manor and Historic Park – 6555 Belmont Woods Rd, Elkridge, MD 21075

  • Details: Discover Belmont Manor & Historic Park, Elkridge’s hidden gem! Explore the gardens, grounds, and manor house, and meet local vendors for special events and weddings. Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival

  • Date: May 3rd and 4th 2025 (Opens 8:30 AM on Saturday & Sunday + Closes 6 PM on Saturday & 5 PM on Sunday)

  • Location: Howard County Fairgrounds – 2210 Fairgrounds Road West Friendship, MD 21794

  • Details: With 250+ vendors, 600+ sheep, and 40+ workshops, this is one of the largest festivals of its kind! More details here.

Bookworm Bash (All Ages)

  • Date: May 10, 2025 – 10 AM to 12 PM

  • Location: Robinson Nature Center – 6692 Cedar Ln, Columbia, MD 21044

  • Details: Join the read-aloud party with local authors, Howard County Public Library, and Robinson Nature Center! Enjoy story times, crafts, and interactive play, including puppet shows and mask-making. Books by local authors will be available for purchase. This free event is for all ages. Wine in the Woods

  • Date: May 17-18, 2025 (Saturday, 11 AM to 6 PM & Sunday, 11 AM to 5 PM)
