Columbia Orchestra’s Rococo Reverie
Join the revered Columbia Orchestra for their premiere performance of the season, Rococo Reverie. This upbeat and high energy performance is the perfect way to kick off their season. Conductor Richard Scerbo will guide audiences through the playful elegance of the Rococo style, featuring Germaine Tailleferre’s sparkling Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, and Brahms’ warm and joyful Symphony No. 2.
We’re excited to welcome talented cellist Francisco Vila as the evening’s soloist, bringing both dazzling technique and heartfelt playing to Tchaikovsky’s beloved work. Vila is a soloist and chamber musician renowned for his sensitivity, penetrating sound and technical mastery of his instrument. His performance career spans Asia, Europe, and the Americas, where he has captivated audiences with his artistry, depth and unique sound.
This year’s theme, “Music that Connects” is all about the ways music brings us together, across time, across cultures, and right here in our own community. Conductor Scerbo put it perfectly when he said, “Music has an extraordinary power to forge connections between artists and audiences, between past and present, and among all of us who share in the transformative experience of live orchestral performance. This season, we invite you to be part of that excitement.”
The concert will take place on October 4th at 7:30pm at the Jim Rouse Theatre in Columbia, MD. Tickets for this not-to-be-missed event are available for purchase online or by calling 410.465.8777.
