Wine In the Woods is sure to be a good time no matter what you’re looking for. Whether you want to sip your way through wineries with your besties or plan a fun date-day with your partner, here are my go-to tips and tricks for an amazing day at Wine In the Woods 2025!
When:

Sunday, May 18 from 11 AM to 5 PM
Where:
Symphony Woods (next to Merriweather Post Pavilion): 10475 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, MD

Premium Pass: $85 Saturday / $79 Sunday – includes access to special wines, food, a larger glass, a gift, beer samples, private area (yes please!)
Taster: $40 Saturday / $35 Sunday – gives you a souvenir glass and unlimited wine tastings.
Non-Taster: $35 Saturday / $30 Sunday – includes entry and a few non-alcoholic drinks.
Pro Tip: Tickets sell out quickly, and they're non-refundable—so plan ahead and cross your fingers for good weather (but the event goes on rain or shine).
What To Pack
There’s nothing like setting up your own little oasis in Symphony Woods. Here’s what I always bring with me:
A picnic blanket – you’ll want a cozy spot to sit, snack, and people-watch.
A cooler with a pre-packed charcuterie spread – seriously, this saves so much money and gives you something tasty between tastings. (Just no outside alcohol—it’s a no-go.)
Folding chairs – perfect if you don’t want to sit on the ground all day. Just note: they have to be set up outside the Explorer Village.
Small umbrella or rain poncho – it’s Maryland, so anything goes weather-wise in May.
Sunscreen + sunglasses + a hat – it can get HOT, especially Saturday.
A little wagon – if you’re bringing a lot of gear (or kids), it makes a big difference.
Getting There and Getting Home
I will admit wine festivals are a blast—you’re hanging out with friends, drinking, listening to live music—but only if you're being safe and responsible! Before I go anywhere I always make sure I have a safe way of getting home, whether that is a designated driver, an Uber, or a Lyft. There are designated drop-off areas for Ubers and Lyfts—you’ll thank yourself later!
What To Wear
Comfort is key for me! Maryland weather is always unpredictable, so make sure you're checking the weather channel right before you leave. You may want to bring a jacket just in case and even an umbrella in case we get some showers.
Is This Festival Kid Friendly?
While children are permitted, the festival is geared more towards those 21 and older because it is a wine festival. There are no children's activities, and maneuvering a stroller through the busy festival grounds can be challenging. If you choose to bring your little ones, they will need a non-taster ticket—just keep that in mind!
Entertainment & More
Live Music: Enjoy six live bands each day, adding to the vibrant atmosphere!
Food Vendors: Over 20 high-quality restaurants and caterers offer a variety of delicious options!
Artisans & Crafters: Browse through 30 juried artisans and specialty crafters showcasing their work!
A Few Final Tips
Arrive early! The gates open at 10:30 AM for advanced ticket holders.
Stay hydrated. While we’ll all be having fun drinking wine, it can get hot—make sure you're sipping water in between!
Remember: this event is rain or shine! So check the weather ahead of time and bring a poncho, light jacket, or umbrella to stay prepared.
