The Columbia Mom Explores New Bakeries Howard County, MD

Anyone else get a sweet tooth mid-week? No, just me?! Howard county has some really awesome bake-shops around, but aside from Kupcakes and Company, which I have a sweet spot for (get it?!), there’s some others that I recently tried out & another coming soon. Be sure to check them out and your sweet tooth will thank you later.

Smallcakes Cupcakery & Charmery

8865 Stanford Blvd, Columbia, MD 21045

Smallcakes is a franchise store with cupcakes and ice cream all in one spot. They were featured on the Food Network and they’re ranked in the top ten cupcakes in the world. Crazy, right? Their cake is super moist and you can even do some cupcake and ice cream combos. They’re located in the heart of Columbia, MD right by Pub Dog (another neighborhood favorite). If you haven’t tried them out, you absolutely should!

Applecore’s Bake Shoppe

10215 Wincopin Cir Suite 100, Columbia, MD 21044

I had a fellow mom the other day ask me where she could get a great dairy free and egg free baked good for her daughter's first birthday. I immediately thought of AppleCore’s Bake Shoppe. Haven’t been before? That’s alright! The Columbia Mom has the scoop. AppleCore has some amazing desserts from cheesecake, bundts, cookies and an assortment of other treats. The great thing is, they offer some awesome vegan options such as bread pudding, cookies and pound cakes. I had the opportunity to try some of their pound cake and I am not a vegan and WOW, wow, wow - it was so moist. I will definitely be back!

Coming soon - Crumbl Cookie

6050 Daybreak Cir, Clarksville, MD 21029

If you haven’t been to a Crumbl Cookies, it’s a treat. Their cookies are huge and delicious. One cookie is enough for two people to share. They rotate out the flavors weekly, so it’s always a surprise. My favorite is the Kentucky butter cookie - it’s served warm and tastes like an entire stick of butter went into it, maybe it did, maybe it didn’t, but that will be our secret. The awesome thing about Crumbl is they serve some of their cookies warm or chilled depending on the cookie you choose. It’s like getting a cookie fresh out of the oven. Good news? They’ll be local to Howard County before you know it. Their newest location is opening in Clarksville, MD in the River Hill shopping center. They’re due to open in spring of 2023. You won't want to miss it!
