Spring Break in Williamsburg, VA: An Unforgettable Family Getaway
If you're looking for a family-friendly getaway that’s easy to drive to, packed with adventure, and full of charm—Williamsburg, Virginia needs to be on your list. We took a spring break trip there and had the best time as a family. From theme park thrills to wide open playgrounds and stunning weather, Williamsburg delivered everything we could’ve asked for—and then some.
Whether you're planning a long weekend or a midweek escape, here's what made our trip so memorable (and what I totally recommend adding to your own itinerary).
Busch Gardens Williamsburg: Family-Friendly Fun and Thrills
We spent a full day at Busch Gardens and it was an absolute highlight of the trip. Between the rides, the themed areas, and the gorgeous spring flowers blooming throughout the park, it was such a perfect combo of exciting and beautiful.
The kids ran from ride to ride, climbed on multiple playgrounds, played carnival games, and indulged in sweet treats that felt like vacation magic. I always appreciate a theme park that’s clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate with kids—and Busch Gardens checks all the boxes. It’s definitely one of those places we can’t wait to visit again!
Kidsburg Playground at Veteran’s Park: A Local Gem Worth the Stop
If you’re traveling with kids, Kidsburg Playground is a must. This massive 30,000-square-foot playground is tucked into Veteran’s Park and is everything a kid could want—and everything a parent could hope for in terms of space, safety, and variety.
There’s a ship replica for climbing, two zip lines, separate playground areas for different ages, swings, and so much open space to run free. Plus, the park has sand volleyball courts, pickleball, basketball courts, an ADA accessible trail, a multipurpose building, and even free Wi-Fi and an off-leash dog area. We ended up spending hours here and could’ve easily stayed longer. The weather was perfect, and the energy of the park made the whole afternoon feel easy, joyful, and just so fun.
The Spring Break Vibes Were Immaculate
Traveling to Williamsburg in the spring was such a win. The weather was mild, the flowers were blooming, and we avoided the summer heat and peak crowds. It felt like the perfect reset—and I loved that there was truly something for everyone: excitement for the kids, relaxation for the grown-ups, and memory-making for all of us.
