Looking for a way to get active in the community? It’s almost time for the Fourth Annual BikeAround Downtown Columbia weekend and Block Party, brought to you by the Downtown Columbia Partnership. So, get out of your cars and get to pedaling or walking!

DTC Partnership wants to bring awareness to how our community can make biking a bigger part of our lifestyle to help reduce our carbon footprint and to get more active. 

 This event is perfect for families, beginner cyclists, or for those who are more seasoned! Please keep in mind that some routes include portions of the roadway.

EVENT DETAILS:

WHEN: The course opens at 9 AM on Saturday, May 6, through 6 PM on Sunday, May 7. There is no group start time, so please start as early or as late as you would like!

WHERE: The six-and-a-half-mile-long course starts and ends in Color Burst Park - 6100 Merriweather Drive, Columbia, MD 21044.

BLOCK PARTY: Saturday, May 6 from 9 AM to 12 PM at Azlon Plaza at Color Burst Park (look for the large kinetic sculpture) - 6100 Merriweather Drive, Columbia, MD 21044. Enjoy food samples, on-site e-bike demos from TREK, and more! BikeAround and Bike to Work Day attendees will be entered to win an amazing Trek E-Bike! The lucky winner will be able to choose the size of the bike they win.

This course is just over five miles, starting at Color Burst Park in Downtown Columbia. From there, you can cycle around Lake Kittamaqundi, over to Wilde Lake, and through Harper’s Choice. To end the course, circle back and join the multi-use pathway to pedal back to Color Burst.

The Downtown Columbia Partnership, the Howard County Office of Transportation, and the Columbia Association will be available to assist in making biking a large part of your everyday lifestyle as a way to benefit your community and your health!
