The Best Playgrounds in Central Maryland: Kid-Tested, TCM-Approved!
Listen, as a mom of two wild, adventurous little ones, I’m always on the hunt for the best playgrounds. Whether I need a fully fenced-in space so I’m not playing a real-life game of tag with my toddler, or a shaded park where I can sip my coffee in peace, I’ve got you covered. If you’re looking for the best playgrounds in Howard, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Harford, and Montgomery Counties, this is the ultimate guide.
Best All-Around Playgrounds
These playgrounds check all the boxes—fun for all ages, safe, clean, and totally worth the trip.
Blandair Regional Park (Columbia, Howard County) – This playground is next level! It’s massive, fully accessible, and has zip lines, sensory-friendly features, and climbing walls. My kids could spend hours here, and honestly, they have. Close to Merriweather District and The Mall in Columbia, and The Columbia Lakefront (all places with several coffee stops).
Angel Park (Perry Hall, Baltimore County) – One of the biggest playgrounds in the area, built with the help of the community—and it shows. It’s colorful, has musical features, and is fully inclusive. It’s fenced-in (hallelujah!) and right next to some great restaurants, so you can grab a bite after playtime.
South Germantown Recreational Park (Boyds, Montgomery County) – Huge, fun, and full of options. It’s a full-day adventure spot, so pack snacks and a change of clothes.
Kinder Farm Park (Millersville, Anne Arundel County) – Farm animals and a playground? Yes, please! My kids love checking out the barn animals before running wild on the farm-themed play structures. There are also walking trails if you want to get some steps in.
Playgrounds with Splash Pads
If you need a way to keep the kids cool while they play, these parks have water features that will save your summer.
South Germantown Adventure Playground (Boyds) – Playground + splash pad = perfection.
Wheaton Regional Park (Wheaton) – Large playground with a fun water feature nearby.
