A Stunning Atmosphere
Centennial Park offers some of my FAVORITE views for a picnic. The park features a stunning lake, greenery, and plenty of shaded areas for a comfortable outing.
Amenities and Activities
There are so many amenities we like to take advantage of… Picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and sports facilities to name a few. The park also offers trails for hiking and biking, making it more than just a picnic spot!
LAKE KITTAMAQUNDI
A Peaceful Lakeside Setting
We love how peaceful Lake Kittamaqundi is! There’s PLENTY of grassy area to drop a picnic blanket in front of the lake. If you’re lucky enough, you might even catch some live music playing on the stage nearby! Check out the Lakefront Live schedule to see when events are taking place!
Nearby Attractions and Facilities
I also LOVE how Lake Kittamaqundi is close to the Columbia Town Center, where we can access shops, restaurants, and restrooms. The lake's playground or walking paths are perfect for a post-picnic play or stroll.
PATAPSCO VALLEY STATE PARK
Historical Charm
Aside from the beautiful landscapes, we love how Patapsco Valley State Park is known for its rich history. Picnic areas are scattered throughout the park, offering privacy and several options when it comes to choosing a scenic picnic view!
Adventure and Exploration
If you have some adventure seekers in your group, you can map out some time for activities like hiking, fishing, and kayaking. My family LOVES the many trails and historic sites, including the Thomas Viaduct and the swinging bridge.

If you’re looking for a spot with a little more of a city feel, Color Burst Park is a lively and exciting place for a family picnic. We love the open green lawn area, artistic installations, and seasonal events!
