My First Corporate Social Media Training: A Full-Circle Moment
If you had told me a few years ago that I’d one day be standing in front of a room full of professionals teaching them how to create Reels — I probably would’ve laughed. But here we are.
Last week, I had the opportunity to lead my first-ever corporate social media training, and honestly… it was such an incredible experience.
What Made This Training Different
For context, I’ve done speaking engagements before. I’ve sat on panels, hosted my own workshops, led networking sessions, and have been part of several professional organizations over the past few years. But this one felt different.
This time, it was a dedicated social media training, tailored specifically for a corporate team, and I got to dive deep into one of my favorite topics: creating Reels with purpose and strategy.
And even though real estate isn’t my particular field, I knew that the fundamentals of social media strategy — storytelling, relatability, and authenticity — are universal. I just needed to repackage my content through a slightly different lens.
And that’s exactly what I did.
For an hour and a half, we talked about algorithms, hooks, and storytelling. We laughed (a lot). We brainstormed creative angles that felt doable for busy professionals. But what really made this training stand out was how interactive it was.
I didn’t just stand at the front of the room talking at people; I made sure everyone got to practice.
We did one-on-one exercises, small breakout-style challenges, and hands-on activities so participants could actually apply what they were learning in real time.
It wasn’t just theory, it was action.
And seeing people light up when they realized, “Wait… I can totally do this!” was the best part.
The feedback was so positive. People left not only inspired, but equipped. They walked away with real, concrete skills, ideas they could implement right away, and even a little practice under their belts.
And here’s the truth: I left that room not only proud of what I taught, but proud of myself.
Because sometimes we forget that we’re already doing the thing we used to dream about.
Sometimes it just takes stepping into a new room, or teaching what you know to others, to realize, “Oh wait. I am the expert.”
What This Training Taught Me
This training reminded me that you don’t have to have all the answers or a fancy title to be seen as a thought leader. You just need experience, passion, and the willingness to share what you know.
I’ve spent the last few years helping local businesses tell their stories — through blogs, videos, Instagram, and partnerships — but something about this training cracked open a new door for me.
It showed me how much I love teaching.
How powerful small group learning can be.
And how this might just be the start of a whole new branch of what I do.
So yes, consider this my little “pinch me” moment and a reminder to anyone reading:
Whatever you’ve been working on quietly behind the scenes? You’re probably more ready than you think.
Next Up
I’m looking to expand these trainings to more teams and industries: from small businesses to marketing departments that want to level up their video strategy. So if your team could use a social media refresh (or just a creative spark), I’d love to chat.
Because teaching people how to share their story? That’s what lights me up the most.
