I had the pleasure of getting to go to Define Hair & Skin about 2 months ago for the first time, and blown away puts it lightly. I was thrilled to find such high-end hair and skincare services near me! Located right off of Route 40 in Ellicott City, MD, Define Hair & Skin boasts a 6,000 squarefoot hair salon along with a skincare salon. This salon in Howard County is absolutely breathtaking. I don’t know that I have ever seen a hair salon in Ellicott City that large, and that gorgeous! We are talking rows of chairs, gorgeous decor, style, & more. I am a huge fan of ambiance in any business. It’s not always just about looking pretty, but it’s about how the space makes you FEEL. And Define truly delivers an outstanding experience! From the gorgeous decor, interior, to their one of a kind front desk filled with all their latest products, to a comfy-cozy waiting area (where you can also shop some of their great retail finds as well!).
Not to mention complementary water & coffee bar. You truly feel transported! Being at DEFINE is a whole experience of beauty & transformation. Whether you’re a mom like me getting their (GRAY) roots touched up, or simply coming in for your regular cut & color, you know you are going to be fully relaxed while also walking out feeling even more gorgeous than you started!

When going to new (to me) businesses, I love getting to know the owners, and even more so knowing their story. Because I believe so much of what impacts a local company is knowing their WHY, what sets them apart, and why it matters to the people they serve.
So not only is Rachel gorgeous (and her ENTIRE staff of 38+ members), they are a husband & wife owned team. They started as a small team of “3 in 2016 and quickly grew to a team of 24 by 2019. We attribute that growth to our 3 main WHY’S: education, collaboration and artistry.”
I love knowing that they are so dedicated to education within their team & staff, and ensure that their stylists maintain their courses of study, training, & more. They believe in collaboration over competition while in the chair; even as I walked around myself, I could easily see all the staff members not only working hard, but talking & sharing amongst each other. You can tell they are a cohesive unit, and that people keep returning here for that reason!
