The Columbia Mom: Finds the Best Rainy Day Fun in Howard County

Whenever it rains, I always think to myself what am I going to do with the kids today? I love being outside and getting fresh air, but now that we're inching towards Spring, I know rain is just around the corner. I am not the kinda mom that can stay cooped up inside all day!

I recently explored some great spots in the county and I wanted to share them with you. Check out my list below and enjoy the fun!

Hyper Kidz Columbia, MD - 9309 Snowden River Pkwy, Columbia, MD 21046

Have your kids completely destroyed your house by 7:00 AM? I’m talking couch cushions taken off, pillows on the floor and two toddlers doing backflips after shoveling in goldfish. Then Hyper Kidz is for you. This is the place you go to burn off that energy. There’s slides, rock walls, ball pits, trampolines and climbing galore! Perfect before nap time.

The Pottery Stop - 9050 Baltimore national Pike, Ellicott city md

My kids love arts and crafts, what kid doesn’t, am I right? The pottery stop is located off of route 40 and it’s also a coffee shop. You walk in and your kid can pick from the many pre-made clay items and then can go to town on picking out the paint colors. While me on the other hand, you’ll find me with an iced coffee enjoying every sip! However, the pottery stop is more for kids 3+. It’s a great place to make some “homemade” art for the family.

Play n’ Learn, Columbia MD- 9033 Red Branch Rd, Columbia, MD 21045

As I said before, if your kids have a lot of energy, Play n’ learn is the place for you. Filled with tons of playgrounds, basketball courts, and trampolines, your kids will have loads of fun! During the week you can do drop in’s for $10 a kid, but unfortunately on the weekend they don’t allow drop in play. This is because they have some awesome birthday parties going on. Be sure to check out my blog post on that!

3, 2, Fun! Miller Children’s Classroom, 9421 Frederick Road Ellicott City MD

If you’re looking for something a little more low key, head to the Miller Branch Library. This recently remodeled library has a great 30 min activity for kids age 0-5. The program is to help them develop early learning skills through stories, songs and rhymes. Tickets are available 15 min before the class. And if you’re looking to spend a little more time there, let the kids check out some books to take home!
